Trophy Black Bear Hunts

Your black bear hunting adventure begins in Fort McMurray, where we’ll meet you for a two-hour drive to our basecamp at Kearl Lake. Your hunting licenses will be awaiting your arrival, so you’re ready to hit the field. 

At basecamp, which offers full cellular and internet service, you’ll settle into outfitter tents equipped with comfortable cots, foam mattresses, and wood stoves to keep you warm. Our communal cook tent serves hearty, home-cooked meals tailored to your dietary needs. Bagged lunches are provided before each hunt, so you’ll stay fueled with tasty snacks in the tree stand.

  • Hunts span six full days, giving you plenty of time to immerse yourself in Alberta’s wilderness. Each afternoon begins with a quad ride to your baited tree stand, where you’ll be hunting by 3 p.m. Stands are equipped with backpack pegs, wooden ladders, and solid platform set 12-14 feet high and just 25 yards from the bait. 

    Evenings are when the action heats up, with sightings of 10-12 bears in a single sit being a common experience. While colour phase black bears can be found in our area, the majority are black. Once settled in, sit back and take in the true beauty of the northern boreal forest and the giant black bears that call it home. 

    After May 15, mornings can be spent fishing for trophy Northern Pike at a nearby lake, just a short quad ride from camp. A fishing boat is ready and waiting for you to enjoy before heading out on the hunt!

  • We take pride in ensuring your trophy is preserved. All hides are salted and dried at camp, ready to take home. For those seeking additional services, we collaborate with a skilled taxidermist who can tan, mount, and arrange shipping upon request.

  • We are committed to promoting ethical and responsible hunting practices. If a bear is wounded, the original tag is forfeited, and a $1500 USD kill fee (cash) is required to continue. A second bear requires an additional $1500 USD kill fee (cash), regardless of whether the first was wounded or killed.

Winter Wolf Hunts

Join us in the heart of Alberta’s rugged wilderness for a winter wolf hunt like no other. Wolves are elusive predators, this hunt is as challenging as it is rewarding.

Based out of our home near Rocky Mountain House, hunts are conducted from heated ground blinds, providing both comfort and protection. These blinds overlook bait sites in well-scouted areas with high wolf populations. Shooting distances range from 200-250 yards, ensuring the best opportunity for success. Wolves are among nature’s most apex predators, with our guiding experience, you’ll have the best chance of harvesting one.

Our team takes care of every detail, including transportation, lodging, and meals. With pick-up and drop-off available from Calgary or Edmonton, you can focus entirely on the hunt and leave the logistics to us.

Kody and his team made the experience friendly and ensured we had everything we needed for a real backcountry hunt. The backwoods experience was what we were hoping for—comfortable and authentic. When it came to the hunt itself, Kody gave me great advice for my first bear hunt. Thanks to his guidance, I was able to differentiate between the age of and sizes from a distance. He taught me to be patient and wait for a real trophy boar. The first bear was a near record, even for a northern Canada bear. The second bear was smaller, but still larger than anything I would have seen in the states. Beyond the hunt, the small group of other hunters and Kody's team made for a great experience. Great camp food, good stories, good people, and a knowledgeable team made the trip even better than just a successful hunt.
